Last month, one of my students had a slow week in her store.

She was frustrated—her top product wasn’t moving as it usually did, and she didn’t have the budget for ads.

So, I suggested a simple strategy:

Run a 24-hour flash sale. But with a twist.

So, I call it Twist Flash Sales.

She posted on her WhatsApp status and Instagram stories…

Offering her top product with a free gift and a sense of urgency:

“Only 24 hours left and 24 gifts remaining!”

The result?

N750,000 in sales in one day.

She do ariund N150k – N200k per day.

No ads.

Just a short, targeted campaign that created instant momentum.

Why did it work?

Because urgency makes people act fast, a little discount and a free gift makes the deal too good to pass up.

There are people who want to buy your product, but they’re slow buyers.

So they hang around you and monitor what you’re doing.

The best way to collect their money, is through giving them a solid reason to act now and that’s why Twist Flash Sales.

People are naturally wired to avoid missing out.

When you pair urgency with exclusivity—like a limited-time offer and a free gift with a discount…

…it triggers action.

The secret to a successful flash sale?

Keep it short, simple, and shareable.

You don’t need a fancy setup or paid ads to make it work.

A quick SMS or a post on your stories & status is enough.

Add urgency-driven language like “Only 24 gifts left!”…

And make the deal irresistible with a small bonus or freebie.

Sidenote: this is what it’s important to build your audience when run ads so that you can convert them later.

Pick a top-selling or high-demand product for your sale.

This is easy to choose by looking at your sales record.

Craft Your Message

Post a video of thr product and tease it before the 24 hours.

Make people aware of the Twist Flash Sales before that day.

A simple 24 Hour reminder is good.

Then on the deal day…

Write a simple, urgency-focused message like:

“24-hour flash sale!

Get this product + save N5,000 + a free gift. Only 24 gifts left!”

For advanced people: we tell people to buy 2 products to get the special gift, instead on one which increase our AOV.

Keep it short and punchy.

Don’t do flash sales everytime, do it once a month at most.
