I’ve seen it over and over again
Ecommerce owners shouting “10M in 30 days,” flexing order screenshots…
Only to be back the next month begging suppliers to give them credit.
Why?
Because they were chasing revenue like clout…
And ignoring profit like bad network.
There’s a popular bakery around my area.
Always busy.
Queue at the door.
Packed every morning.
But one day I met the owner.
He looked tired. Bitter. Frustrated.
He said, “I sell 100 loaves every day… but I still can’t pay my rent.”
That was the moment it hit me:
Volume without margin is just a trap.
Many ecommerce owners are the same.

I started with my bank balance, not my sales dashboard.
I used to feel like a big boy when I saw ₦10M on my dashboard.
I would screenshot and post it like a badge of honour.
But guess what? I was thinking of how to pay for new products.
That’s when it hit me – this revenue thing na scam.
The only number that matters is the one in your account AFTER you’ve paid for ads, delivery, staff, and wahala.
So I stopped celebrating fake success.
I started tracking profit per sale like my life depended on it.
Because it actually did.
I built offers that allowed me to upsell.
The biggest mistake I made was thinking my ₦8K profit per order was enough.
It’s not. Nigeria is not soft.
So instead of crying about rising costs, I fought back.
I started adding bundle options, created “add this for just ₦5K” offers, and used delivery zones to price smarter.
That ₦8K became ₦12K… with the same customer, same ad.
No extra cost. Just better packaging.
That’s how real profit is made – in the offer, not in the volume.
The I introduced package upsells and before you know it.
One customer can give us over ₦20K profit.
I cut the losers fast.
I used to hold onto products that were clearly killing me.
Low profit. High delivery failure. Constant complaints.
But because I already paid for the video, or I liked the product emotionally, I kept pushing.
Dumb move.
Now? I treat my product list like a creative.
If it’s not performing, I cut it – fast.
No tears. No second chances. Just business.
That one change alone made my life 10x less stressful.
No more drama. Just winners.
This shift made my business feel lighter.
And finally… worth it.
Because what’s the point of making ₦10M in sales if you still can’t afford to buy new product to sell?
