Thoughts:
“Your brain is the most profitable tool in your business—but only if you sit with it.”
“If you’re not thinking, you’re reacting. And in e-commerce, reaction is revenue loss.”
“Smart e-commerce founders don’t just do. They pause. They plan. They win.”
Read this if you’ve ever felt like your business is moving… but not very fast.
There’s a dangerous illusion I see in a lot of Nigerian e-commerce “hustlers”…
They think being busy = building.
They think packing orders, replying DMs, tweaking captions, tweaking ad budget, fixing delivery wahala… means they’re “working on the business.”
But they’re not.
They’re buried in it.
That was me too.
Until one quiet Saturday morning.
I stepped out, left my phone at home, and just sat in the sun.
No dashboard.
No metrics.
No team chat.
And for the first time in weeks, I could hear myself think.
I wrote one full page of “nonsense” in a rough note.
But inside that nonsense was the idea that doubled my business.
Your business will only grow to the level of your thinking.
Here’s the thing most e-commerce founders don’t realize:
Your brain is your real warehouse.
Not your inventory.
Not your supplier’s.
Not your ad account.
If you don’t think, you’ll just repeat.
You’ll react, not build.
You’ll keep grinding in circles instead of stepping back to see where the leak is.
You’re the CEO.
But you’re not doing CEO work.
You need thinking time.
Not TikTok scrolling disguised as “research.”
3 Thinking Habits That Quietly Make Me More Money Than My Ads
Let me be honest with you…
I didn’t grow my e-commerce business just by running more ads.
I grew it by thinking better.
And to do that, I had to stop chasing only doing and start building a habit of thinking deliberately.
Here are the 3 quiet rituals I practice like a religion—and how they’ve saved me millions in mistakes and confusion.
It’s so important that I’m willing to pay myself to have that time block.
The 60-Minute CEO Session
Every Sunday.
Me, a pen, a chair. That’s it.
Think of this like a weekly “family meeting” with yourself
Except you’re the husband, wife, and confused uncle in the same room.
I sit down every Sunday for just 30 minutes.
No phone.
No distractions.
And I write down these 3 questions:
- What worked last week?
- What didn’t?
- What will I change this week?
Sounds simple, right?
But this single habit saved & made me millions last year in ad money I would’ve wasted repeating the same broken ideas.
It’s like driving a car across Nigeria and never stopping to check the fuel or tyres…
You’ll eventually crash or break down in Lokoja.
This 60-minute check-in is how I refuel my business brain.
The Mental Audit Walk
Already took one this morning.
One walk. No AirPods. No “motivational” YouTube.
Just me, my steps, and the madness in my head.
I do this 3x a week.
I literally take a walk, and let my thoughts talk.
I’m not trying to fix anything.
I just let the ideas surface on their own.
Imagine you shake a bottle of dirty water and try to see through it
Impossible, right?
But if you set the bottle down, the dirt settles.
The water clears.
That’s what this walk does for my thinking.
Some of my sharpest ideas came when I wasn’t forcing it.
No “productivity hack.”
Just silence and steps.
Stanford university did a study and discovered that participants who walked (especially outdoors) showed a 60% increase in creative idea generation compared to those who sat.
The Strategy Sprint (Quarterly Reset)
Every 90 days, I go off-grid for 3 days to check my big-picture game.
Think of it as cleaning for your entire e-commerce engine.
Here’s what I look at:
My delivery flow – is it smooth or are customers still calling me to ask “where is my item?” or just ghosting us, if yes, why?
Recent complaints – what are customers angry about? I face them.
My upsells – is there money being left on the table?
My follow-up scripts – do they still convert or need rewriting?
Products? Sales? Team? Cashflow?
EVERYTHING!
It’s like servicing a generator.
You can’t wait until it explodes.
This reset helps me clean out the dust and sharpen what’s working.
These 3 days help me make smart moves that save me months of pain.
And make us lots of money in the short / long term.
You don’t need a bigger team or a fancier CRM before you start thinking like a boss.
