At that time, the only software engineering school that’s not a university in Lagos, was NIIT. 

The problem was, NIIT fees were not cheap. 

But I wanted it anyway but my parents couldn’t afford it then.

To raise the money for my tuition, I decided to start selling phones because I was good with phones already.

I headed to the best place to do that well in Lagos – Computer Village, Ikeja.

I started selling phones on the street. Then I added laptops.

I was making more money than the owners of the product.

How? 

I was getting customers online. 

This was the beginning of online shopping in Nigeria. 

So I will post classified ads on Google trader, olx and jiji to get customers.

Everyday, I was getting 5 – 10 people calling to buy either phones or laptops. Then, I’ll get commissions after sales. 

All because I was SELLING ONLINE – while the owners were waiting for customers offline.

Anyway, one day on my way back from computer village. 

I saw a banner that said “Learn Web Design In 3 Days For N15,000”. I immediately went to inquire about the training.

When I got home, I kept thinking about the training. 

The next day, I paid for it. 

Funny enough, I only admitted 2 days out of the 3 days. Because, the second day was my sister birthday.

After the training and a few days of practising, I was equipped with the skill of designing websites. 

Within 1 week, I designed my first website. After that, I was open for business. I started getting clients.

So how does this relate to ecommerce? I’ll tell you now…

I was a normal, average website designer just making some cash, who happened to learn some marketing skills to serve more clients and get paid more. 

Simple skills like running ads, graphic design, doing seo and more. 

I realized that what most clients wanted were customers. Not some pretty website. 

The easiest way to get customers is through ads and better marketing. 

Here I am with the very valuable skill of running ads… 

But I was stuck working for clients who were making millions with my work, which is not totally bad. 

Then, one day, I sat down with my friends, and we were talking and just laughing as friends usually do. 

Until I told them how I helped one of my clients with his ecommerce business and he made N500,000 in less than 2 days. 

Suddenly, one of my friends gave me a personal attack. 

"Moses, do you know you're not wise?"

“How? Bro, take it easy.” I said. 

“Dude, listen to what I have to say”, He said it seriously. 

He got my attention, and he said something that’ll change my life forever. 

“You’re making millions for your clients with their Ecommerce business; what’s stopping you from doing it for yourself?”

Funny enough, until that time, I hadn’t thought of it that way. I’ve always seen myself as a technical person. 

So, I actually never thought of it. But, here I was with the hard truth. I was angry at myself for not thinking of it. 

I’m happy, he spoke his mind that day; if not, you wouldn’t be reading this. 

Then, I started Ecommerce with a budget of just N50,000 after a client paid me for my next Web design job, which has become millions today.

I was hooked on Ecommerce the minute I delivered my first product. 

After selling this product to a stranger who didn’t know me.

I decided I was going to take ecommerce seriously.

I’m telling you so that you know where I’m coming from. 

I was not born with a silver spoon, actually I was, but we lost it after things got hard. 

As you can see, I’m not special.

I just learned how to find simple products, make them valuable, and sell them online.

Just like the one below that produced millions.
