Thoughts:
“Your next sale is hiding in someone else’s thank you message.”
“The seller that shows proof wins. The one that hides it struggles.”
“Proof is power. Reviews are the currency of trust.”
Nobody told me when I started selling online…
Your opinion about your product doesn’t matter.
The only thing that matters is what other people are saying about it.
I used to post my product every day like I was begging.
Nice design. Nice caption. Plenty emoji. FEW sales.
Then one day, I posted one shaky screenshot from a customer:
“Thanks oo, this thing really worked for me!”
No design. No filter. Just pure gratitude.
That post got 10x the engagement of everything I had posted before.
And 3 people messaged to ask, “Is this real? I want to try it too.”
I was shocked.
That’s when it clicked: People trust strangers more than they trust YOU.
If you’re not posting your customer reviews, you’re leaving money on the table.
Nigerians are naturally suspicious.
And they have every reason to be – too many fake sellers have messed things up.
So when they see a normal person like them using your product and saying it works…
It breaks that wall of doubt.
They feel safe.
And safe people buy.
Reviews are not vanity. They are validation.
This is not just sales psychology. It’s cultural survival.
Those Instagram vendors that post 5x per day with lots of review have mastered the game.
How to start posting reviews…
1. Don’t wait for “perfect” testimonials. Use what you have.
Some people are waiting for their customers to write full novels before they post.
Big mistake.
That message that says “The pain has gone” – that’s gold.
That means your product worked.
That means it solved a real-life problem.
That means you now have proof.
Use screenshots.
Use voice notes. Even if the audio is rough, post the part that matters.
Use video reactions if they send one.
People don’t need Shakespeare.
They need to see someone like them got the result they want.
That’s what triggers trust.
Let the content be raw. That’s what makes it real.
And real is what sells.
2. Post reviews like they are your best-performing product.
Don’t treat testimonials like one small thing you throw inside “Customer Highlight” and forget.
Treat them like the main show.
Give the same energy you give your paid ad creatives, give your reviews.
Post them every day.
But don’t just dump the screenshot – build a story around it. Write a little backstory.
“She almost gave up. Her back pain was getting worse. She couldn’t sleep for days.
Now see what she said after just 3 days of using our patch.”
Insert screenshot
That is the post.
That is the content.
That is the ad.
See how other ecommerce owners in your niche is doing it.
It works because it doesn’t feel like an ad.
It feels like a story. A win. A proof.
People love to see others win because it gives them hope that they can win too.
3. Ask for feedback immediately after delivery. No delay.
Here’s the mistake most sellers make…
They assume that if the customer is happy, they’ll message them.
Nope. That person will enjoy your product and forget you exist.
You’ve got to ask.
Send a message once they receive it:
“Hey, how was the delivery? Have you tried it? How do you feel?”
And if they’re excited, get the review immediately.
That review can bring in 50 new customers this week.
Delay? It dies.
And if you don’t have reviews yet, that’s not a problem.
Start building.
- Give free samples to friends or neighbors and ask them for feedback.
- Do a small ₦0 profit promo just to gather proof.
- Find the product you’re selling on sites like Aliexpress, temu… (if it’s the same)
- Run a challenge where 5 people try it and give honest feedback.
If you have no reviews, you have no social proof.
And in Nigeria, especially with payment before delivery, social proof is oxygen.
No proof, no trust.
No trust, no sales.
So don’t play with it.
This is what’s missing from most struggling Ecommerce businesses.
They have a good product.
They run ads.
They post designs.
But they forget that in Nigeria, nothing sells like someone else’s result.
